Learning aim: To enable pupils learn more about the five sense organs and their functions.
Lesson Objective: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
1. Observe and name colours, shapes and sizes of common objects
2. Identify various odours of fruits, food, shoes, dirty socks etc.
3. Detect the taste of sweet, sour, salty and bitter food items.
4. Identify various sounds made made by objects, animals and persons.
5. Identify objects by touching and feeling.
6. Describe the correct ways of using the road.
The senses
The senses make us sensitive and responsive to the changes that take place in our environment. The human body has five senses which include the following:
The sense of sight :the eyeThe sense of hearing and balance : the earThe sense of smell : the noseThe sense of taste: the tongueThe sense of touch : the skin.Sense organs are parts of the body that respond to changes in our immediate environment. Sense organs give information about our environment or surroundings.
Sense Organs in the body:
This is the eye. It is the sense of sight and is used for seeing.This is the ear. It is the sense of hearing and is used for hearing and maintaining balance.
This is the nose. It is the sense of smell and is used for perceiving.
This is the tongue. It is the sense of taste and is used for tasting.
This is part of the skin. It is the sense of touch and is used to feel.

Touching : The skin is the sense organ we used to feel and all part of our body are covered with the skin so as to have the sense of touch or feeling. We feel pain with the skin.
